Michelle Gilberthorpe
Project Manager – Mental Health
Michelle is Project Manager for the Mental Health Theme at the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre, which includes Neuroscience and Digital & Data Science research programmes.
Michelle has public sector experience spanning over 20 years and has MSc degrees in Psychology and in Public Health. She has held roles within various NHS Trusts, including developing and managing projects in quality improvement, clinical governance, patient and public engagement and involvement (PPIE) and community health development, and worked for three years as a Youth Support Worker in addition to her full-time NHS role. Michelle was also previously a Technical Analyst for the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE), working on developing quality standards for health, public health and social care.
Michelle is passionate about people having opportunity to achieve optimal outcomes in mental health and emotional and social wellbeing. She is a workplace Health and Wellbeing Champion and Mental Health First Aider and volunteers for a mental health charity, through which she provides support for children, young people and adults. Michelle is also a School Governor, working with the school to maintain a strategic vision that encourages and supports children to reach their full potential.
