Dr Michael Stone is most noted for developments in automatic volume controls in hearing aids and cochlear implants and for his involvement in ground-breaking mobile phone technology for Manx Telecom. This involved the integration of audiology software onto specialist hardware within a telecom network to improve the quality of life of hearing impaired people who use mobile phones.
