Manchester BRC team helps develop new NICE hearing loss guideline
Members of the Hearing Health theme, including theme lead Professor Kevin Munro, Professors Chris Armitage and Neil Pendleton together with Julia Garlic (Public and Patient Involvement representative) have contributed to the new NICE guideline for assessment and management of adult hearing loss.
‘Hearing loss in adults: assessment and management’ signposts the best routes for the referral and management of hearing difficulties, including simple problems attributed to the build-up of ear wax, age related hearing loss and more serious conditions that require specialist medical care.
Commenting on the new guideline, Kevin Munro said:
Adults with hearing loss can now be confident that decisions about their care will be based on best possible evidence.
Professor Munro has also co-authored a recent article: ‘Hearing loss in adults: assessment and management: summary of NICE guidance’ published in the BMJ.
